Packing tips before you go
On this trip now just sharing a few tips. I wasted valuable suitcase space. Shoes you need…pair of good walking, trail shoes. One pair of decent flat shoes for smart casual hotel dinners, and I wish I had brought one pair of good walking sandals. It’s getting hot at sea level . I brought another pair of city sneakers and they are just taking up suitcase space. You don’t need a lot of cold weather clothes. You only need one additional jacket for the Jungfraujoch morning.I wasted a whole packing cube with cold weather gear. Warm sunny days , slightly cooler nights thru out Switzerland.Lighter weight sleeping clothes are helpful. Some hotel do not have A/C so you might be warmer than you like some nights. Enjoying this wonderful trip. It’s quite fast paced for activities so might not be able to answer any questions in a timely manner. Happy Travels
Re: Tour Directors
Actually, for me, K&T was the only time I heard from the TD before the trip. Caulden. Great TD!

We’re on the Dec 7 river cruise starting in Vienna. This will be our first river cruise but we’ve done 10 land tours with Tauck. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Great to meet you all, virtually! Terrilynn, your reviews and information have been so helpful to us as we have been planning. My husband David and I love to meet new people and learn from them about future travels and share our experiences as well. First timers with Tauck. Can’t wait!
Re: Question about Wine Onboard
British I'm with you, no need to upgrade, the wines they serve have always been enjoyable.
Re: Steam Train Ride
I am on the August 8 tour, connecting from the Week in Scotland tour that begins on Aug 1. Very excited about both of these tours.
Re: Steam Train Ride
My wife and I really enjoyed this trip. We felt like we got a real good understanding of the countries. Couple of the bus days were long but not terrible. If you get car/bus sick, be cautious on the trip out of Edinburgh to Lakes District. Very curvy and hilly. Other days were fine. Tauck does a great job of breaking up the longer rides with rest stops or attractions. We had a lovely lunch with a family at their estate Husband and wife were wonderful hosts and so friendly. Saw lots of castles and estates. One of my favorite nights was in Oxford when we ate dinner with a couple students. So, so intelligent and fun to talk to. And dinner was not “dorm food”. Three course gourmet with excellent wines! Everything was very well paced with free time to explore. In London, a wide range of top shows to choose from. All and all we learned al lot and saw some cool places. Stonehenge was truly impressive. Took a side trip on our own to see Crown Jewels in Tower of London. Enjoy!
Re: Steam Train Ride
I’m going on August 10th. What date are you going, Sharon? Highlights from Kazootriper? Anyone else on the 10th.
