Pre-trip : Searching for private tour guide

With two days free in Budapest before meeting our Tauck tour, we would like recommendations for finding a private tour guide, so that we may experience parts of Budapest that are not part of our trip itinerary. Ideas? (other than googling?) Recommendations of individuals?

    I would suggest you contact Tauck and ask them to recommend a private guide. Tauck was able to arrange a private guide for us to use during some "free time" in Vienna (obviously at our cost). Otherwise you can get online and google private guides in Budapest. Needless to say, unless you have had previous experiences with guides in Budapest or have a solid recommendation from someone on this forum, this can be "pot-luck". For what it is worth, we have also used A & K (Abercrombie and Kent) for hiring private guides, and we have always been satisfied with their recommendations. You might also consider asking this question on the Cruise Critic Forum.
