Average temperatures mid-summer for the Ultimate Alps tour

Although we are disappointed that some of the Switzerland stops and Vienna have been dropped from the alpine tour, we are considering this trip to celebrate our 45th Anniversary this year and are wondering about the weather and temperatures mid-summer to early fall. Since a lot of time is spent in the mountains we don't want to have to pack heavy clothing, boots, etc. for snow or winter-like weather. What month we book the trip for really depends on this.

  • Dear wundernkc,

From July to September this region's weather averages any where form the mid 70s during the day to the mid 50s in the evening. In October, temperatures can average from the the mid 50s to the mid 30s.

The mountain ranges of this area play a decisive role in determining the region's different climatic conditions. This is an area where the climate is temperate and unpredictable. As a general rule, you can expect temperatures to range from 55 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit, but be prepared for occasional extremes, as well as rain.

    Hope this helps,
    Emily
