Packing for the late June /Empire of the Incas Trip

Based on the information Tauck has sent for this trip, they don't seem to address the very cold temperatures at the higher altitudes for that time of year. I have been reading information stating that the highs right now are running in the 50s and the lows in the lower 30s, yet Tauck only suggests light jackets and sweaters. They give no sugestion of gloves, hats, or scarves, socks, etc. In fact they even suggest bringing shorts! Why the contradition in information? Thanks.

You'll definitely want to bring some layers as it can get cold. But since an individual's tolerance for cold can vary obviously from person to person, a hat and scarf might be a good idea since they don't take up too much room in your bag. We find that layers of light jackets and sweaters seem to work best.

As far as bringing shorts goes, it can get quite warm Lima, Peru. This tour has a lot of changes in temperature and altitude (very much like our American Canyonlands tour) and we just want people to be as prepared as they can for each area.

    Hope this helps!

How do people dress for dinner? Are adidas walking shoes ok for Machu picchu?
