Strenuous?

We are trying to plan a family trip to Peru for next summer. My mother in Law (in her 70's) who is healthy and physically fit is reluctant to go because she heard from a friend that the hiking is too strenuous. Wondering if any seniors have taken this tour....what was your experience....
Also, did anyone have issues with altitude sickness? I am sure the tour directors have made accommodations for older travelers. Appreciate any feedback.

There were quite a few seniors on our trip and they all enjoyed it. I'm not in great shape and I didn't find it very strenuous. It was a very fast paced trip with early mornings but at Machu Picchu we took the bus up and you can tour at your own pace, some left early and others hiked to the top.
As for the altitude, they did a great job of acclimating you, starting out at 7000 and working your way up to 11000 ft. The directors are great reminding you about things to do to help with the altitude. I would definitely recommend this trip to seniors.

Thanks for the reply! That is reassuring. I will let her know.
