Sport Coat for Men on Week in London and Paris Trip?

My husband and I are traveling on the Week in London and Paris trip beginning on September 22. He is trying to pack prudently and wonders if he needs to pack a sport coat? Can any previous travelers on this trip give us some help?

You'll go to a couple of nice restaurants and a play in London where you'll both want to dress up a bit. I would suggest he take the sport coat, especially for the night of the play.
