cruise amenities

Needing clarification...have booked a balcony suite on the Grand Alaska tour this summer. Tauck tells me none of the amenities mentioned on the Sapphire will apply (like room service, chocolates etc) while a Princess spokesperson says they absolutely do. Why have I paid the premium price for a balcony suite???!!!

    Hi There,

I followed up with our Alaska Product Manager and with Princess, here is the response:

    Included:
    • Welcome glass of champagne
    • Chef's Welcome Goodies at embarkation (A bowl of warm sugar almonds, A glass of Champagne, An invitation to Crown Grill, Sabatini's or Sterling Steakhouse (depending on ship))
    • Extended room service menu (full breakfast, lunch, dinner offering) - Suite passengers only
    • In-suite afternoon tea service - Suite passengers only
    • Passenger's choice of deluxe canapes, delivered daily
    • Breakfast in Sabatini's w/complimentary "Good Morning Mimosa" each morning
    • Complimentary cover charge(s)* for one of the alternative restaurants on embarkation evening
    • Room service items are available for the suites with no cost.

    Not Included
    • The upgraded meal at Sabatini’s is not available with room service.
    • Any offerings in restaurants from the restaurant menu is not available in room service

These are the same offerings you'd get as if you booked directly with Princess, the only difference is getting room service to have Tauck guests receive at the restaurant Sabatini's.

    Hope this helps,
    Emily

Thanks for the clarification. Please advise Tauck information/reservation specialists so they can give the correct information...amenities are room dependent.

We have chosen a mini-suite for the Alaska trip. Do you get room service, etc. with that or is it only the large suite?

We were in a balcony room (not a suite) and had the option of having room service at no additional charge. They do offer a champagne breakfast that costs additional (maybe $50?). We could also request whole fresh fruit daily, and had a small piece of chocolate on our bed at night.

We only used room service a couple of times for breakfast when we had to disembark early, but other members of our group used it for afternoon snacks or meals when two people got sick.

While there is no charge, we tipped (using cash) the person who delivered the food a couple of dollars.
