In my experience an adapter is a good idea, even if a 110v outlet is provided. Many hotels and Tauck riverboats provide both types of outlets, but the outlet you need may not always be the most conveniently located. For example, on the MS Treasures, we had a couple of 110v outlets over the desk, but the outlets in the bathroom and near the bed were 220v.
