Suggestions for New Tauck Travelers in Eastern Europe

Hello! We are planning our first Tauck trip in August, and would love to hear from others who have been on the
Bucharest to Budapest cruise in August in the past and going now!
We sincerely hope that the water will be at a good level and will be safe and well for everyone!

We usually get to travel once a year or every other year with our family! Our last experience
with a big cruise ship left us saying not again thank you!
Any advice also on past experiences flying in and out of Paris versus Prague versus Amsterdam?
We found the Amsterdam airport to be just great a few years ago! Thanks!

    Hi Broadway Baby,

We took this riverboat tour last August and had a very interesting time. We flew into Bucharest two days earlier since my DH's family was from Romania and got out in the early 1900's. The JW Marriott is a beautiful hotel and we arranged with the concierge for a tour of the city with another couple who was on our shuttle from the airport to the hotel. We did the People's Palace that day and when several days later when Tauck took everyone to see it, they arranged for our small group of eight to visit a very interesting Peasant Museum and gave us taxi fare to the restaurant where we met the rest of the passengers for lunch. The Danube was dry at the Black Sea end of the rivercruise, so the wonderful captain stopped the ship a day earlier with the incoming passengers and had them bused earlier to the beautiful JW Marriott for a day of sightseeing. We were then bused about 45 minutes away to the ship at a dock where ships don't usually dock. The crew was most helpful in getting us on the ship which was down a hill. Some of the passengers chose to go to the Black Sea and had a much longer day and arrived at night to the ship where the crew was waiting with flashlights to help the passengers. We had been to Contanta on another cruise and chose not to return. All the passengers on both trips received vouchers from Tauck and we are using ours the end of this month on another Tauck tour. We love Tauck and have been on many trips with them and always go back because of the way they handle tough situations. You can read on this board what they did for the passengers during the recent horific flooding in Germany and on the Danube.
