Shorts or long pants while touring

When touring in the large cities such as Santiago, Rio and Buenos Aires and the temperature is close to 90, do most men wear shorts or slacks?

    This is a casual tour. Khaki type shorts will be fine.

    FWIW, I was surprised how few on the tour wore shorts. Everyday garb here in Florida, but apparently not in Santiago, Buenos Aires, or Rio. You definitely need them for Iguazu Falls.

    If the temperature is close to 90, then shorts would be fine. :)
