Coffee

I have heard warnings about the water in India, including not to have a drink that contains ice. What about coffee and tea? They contain water that has not been boiled.

  • Hi Travelling Tex,

You can't make tea without boiling water. And our Indian friends certainly know how to make tea! So at least there's one beverage you can drink.

    Cheers,

  • Hi Travelling Tex,

You are correct, we advise our guest against using ice cubes, that being said when tap water is boiled, most types of disease-causing organisms are killed.

    Hope this helps,
    Emily
  • We always suggest to drink boiled water so that you protect from the disease not all states have water problem.
  • It may be you will get water that would not be so clean at somewhere in India but if you asking for coffee it is not possible to make a coffee without boiling it
  • Tauck will advise to not have ice in drinks. After a few days there we actually did have it in drinks at the Oberoi hotels (generally the ice is made with bottled water at the Oberoi). But to be on the safe side best to avoid.

Tea and coffee - no issues, the water is boiled.
