ONE FOR THE MODERATOR PLEASE

Hello - We will be traveling on the Italian Lakes Oct. 8th tour -
arriving in Lugano a day early. Is it advisable to take some Francs or will we be ok with just Euros.

  • Hi there!

We generally suggest having a small amount of local currency when traveling abroad — so, while you'll only be spending the first night of your trip in Switzerland, it's probably not a bad idea to have some Swiss Francs. Later, once you arrive in Italy, you can always change them to the Euro.

Further, you should bear in mind that many foreign banks are able to provide local currency using a credit card or travelers checks — and we suggest using major credit cards or ATMs located throughout the country affiliated with major banks, as they generally give the best exchange rates.

Just make sure to contact your bank before your departure to determine whether you will be able to use your card at locations abroad.

    Hope this helps!
