Weather in April or May

in China, the Yangtze River & Hong Kong
We are planning our China Trip and decided on April 26th 2012 and now someone said that it will be very cold. Since we can change our date to May would anyone know if that date is better?

    China is the a huge country in the world. There are many attractive destination to visit in china like Beijing, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Yellow mountains etc. I think May, September and October is the best time to visit china. During this time the weather in China is pleasant.

    We went at the end of May and into June and the weather was very nice. Remember, you will be traveling over a big distance, so it will be hard not to get temperature variations. It will be hard not to be a little hot or a little cold no matter what time of the year you go.

    Hello Rett,

    The climate of China is temperate, similar to the United States.

    Beijing - expect cool sometimes cold weather in Spring with temperatures ranging from 70s during the day time to around the 40s and 50s at night
    Hong Kong - rarely dips below 60 F. In April and May temperatures can range from the mid 60s all the way to the high 70s
    Three Gorges region (Yangtze) and Guilin - Temperatures vary in the 60s and 70s in April and May

    We recommend dressing in layers and bringing an umbrella for those unexpected rain showers.
