Spent 3 days in London last month prior to flying to Africa for 12 safari. Go to viator.com and research their tours that you can book ahead of time. I had never been to London before and filled 3 days with tours. It was wonderful. My last day I had booked the Hop On-Hop Off tour and was able to visit several places as we came to them and then get back on the bus after I had finished. I also was able to hop off at Harrod's. That was awesome. Wonderful city, I loved London, so sorry for the troubles they are experiencing at this time. I was just at the Tower of London and have several wonderful pictures of the London bridge.
Traveling London alone is pretty good choice, because London's got decent transportation system so you can move freely.
I would recommend you to go The Great Britain Museum.
Hi there!
I recently solo travelled around London and found that the tour buses offer great opportunity for seeing many sights. I was really impressed with the classic tour which was really funny and interactive. It was one of the highlights from my trip.

There is also an organization called London walks. You meet at a Tube(subway) stop and you end in sight of one. Different ones each day.

Some great places to look at around Buckingham Palace.
Catch a train from Waterloo and head to Thorpe Park, if you're into theme parks.
Plenty of free art and history museums in London.
All you can eat pizza across from Victoria coach station.
Head down to Tower Bridge. Great things to see and do. In the summer there's loads going on down there.
