Price of Souvenirs/Artwork

Can someone tell me the prices of any souvenirs, books or artwork that you either purchased or looked at during your trip? What is the exchange rate for US dollars?

I'm sure someone else can jump in here with more practical information, but I don't think you'll have to worry about prices much at all, Judy. As far as I'm aware, the US government does not permit imports (that's what your purchases would be considered) from Cuba into the United States. The import ban would apply to foreign nationals transiting through the US on their forward journeys, too. The lessons of history, huh? I think this is one of the reasons so many non-US citizens choose to visit Cuba via Canada or another non-US port.

This new tour Tauck is offering sounds just wonderful, but I think you have to abandon all hopes of shopping. So tragic!

  • Hello Judy S,

Generally souvenirs are not allowed to be brought back to the US. With that being said, virtually any artwork is acceptable going through US Customs - posters, fine art, hand crafts, wood carving, etc. The red flags they (US Customs) are looking for are cigars and rum; I wouldn't even attempt to bring those back. As for prices of items, perhaps someone can chime in on that. I assume prices would differ from location to location. Your Tour Director can help you with purchases.

As for the exchange rate, as of today, every $1USD is equivalent to $1CUC. You can check these website sites to see what the latest exchange rates are www.xe.com or www.oanda.com.

    Hope this helps,
    Emily
