Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

Pureluxury: Yes, I'dlove to go back to see the Grand Egyptian Museum. Maybe I can use that as an incentive for my wife to travel there :) (View Post)2 -
Re: Just returned from Egypt October 2023
We did a tour of Egypt and I really enjoyed it. I'd like to do it again, but my wife was not enamored of Egypt, especially how men treated her - women don't have much status in Egypt. We di… (View Post)2 -
Re: Trip Report: Treasures of the Mediterranean Isles: October 2023
This thread led me to the book "The Great Siege: 1565". It's very interesting and an easy read. If you have any interest in the history of Malta, I'd recommend it. https://www.ama… (View Post)2
