Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

Re: Tour Director tip
@MS78 - Poon is a troll. In my opinion, the best thing to do is to completely ignore him - he feeds on you getting upset. If he doesn't get a response, he will go away. (View Post)6 -
Re: Tour Director tip
I've had several Tauck tour directors contact me before the tour. One was Morrocco, another was Vietnam, and one other that I don't remember. Seems like it's happening more recently - … (View Post)2 -
Re: Cuba 2025 Trip Thoughts - Part 1
When I went to Cuba some years back, they often used the standard US outlets, but they were 220 volts, not 120 volts. Some had a small label on them saying "220 volts" but some didn't … (View Post)2 -
