Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

Re: How important is the fellow traveler aspect of a Tauck Tour (vs. the destination)
I'd prefer to have both :) I haven't experienced very many other travelers who were really that bad. My pet peeves are people who only talk about themselves and show no interest in others, … (View Post)4 -
Re: On tour Covid testing
The Tour Directors tell you that you have to give them a completed comment form at the farewell dinner, but I'm very sure they would not prevent you from participating in the farewell dinner if … (View Post)2 -
Re: February 5, 2023 tour
I'll second the recommendation for the movie "Indochine". Catherine Deneuve is the lead actor. It's not a perfect movie but is very good, especially if you're going to Vietna… (View Post)1
