Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

It depends on what your preferences are. I prefer a small group, and I like that Tauck handles everything. Tauck keeps you busy - little free time. If free time is what you want, maybe Tauck is not t… (View Post)1 -

Japan is a bit unusual in their electrical power. The voltage is 100 volts but the hertz are 50 Hz in the east (such as Tokyo) and 60 Hz in the west. Almost all modern chargers are designed to operat… (View Post)1 -
Re: ANNOUNCED SCHEDULE ACTIVITY CHANGE DAY 6 OF PARIS TO RIVIERA NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR TAUCK STANDARDS
Good advice. The first time I went to Paris I didn't know about the underground access to the Arc de Triomphe and crossed the road around it. But I was young and foolish. (View Post)2 -
Re: ANNOUNCED SCHEDULE ACTIVITY CHANGE DAY 6 OF PARIS TO RIVIERA NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR TAUCK STANDARDS
@cathyandsteve - Paris is a magical city. Going there while the Olympics are going on may not be the best time but I hope you fall in love with it - as I did long ago. There's so much to see and… (View Post)1
