Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

I've had some VERY early departures from Tauck tours. The TD may not be there, but someone meets us in the lobby and takes us to the airport, sees that we get our boarding passes and takes us up… (View Post)3 -
Re: Tour Director Tipping
I would never not tip at all. If I was really disappointed I might reduce the tip. But the TD did the job, and spent the time. That should be worth something. (View Post)3 -
Re: Tour Director Tipping
On Regent, all tips are included but we always give a bit extra to the Cabin Attendents and the Butler (if we have a butler). So there's an opportunity for the TD to get extra if they would take… (View Post)2 -
Re: Welcome to Tauck's La Belle Vie: The Rhône, Geneva & the Riviera Forum
I use TSA locks on International trips and have never had one cut off. I assume they can open TSA locks, if necessary. (View Post)1 -
Re: Destination London
If you like Mark Rylance, look for the movie "The Outfit". It's a small budget movie, but very good. Mark Rylance is the protagonist. Highly recommended. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/… (View Post)1
