Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

I find that hard to believe. The total amount of tips on a regular tour adds up to a lot of money. No rational person is going to be indifferent to that amount of money. For 40 people on a 14 day tou… (View Post)1 -
Re: Memorial Day
Thank you for reminding us of the sacrifice so many made to keep us free. Memorial Day is when we honor those who didn’t return. Veterans’ Day is when we honor those who did return. (View Post)1 -
Re: Is it time to boycott cash tips to get Tauck to join the modern era?
As soon as you're able, ask the TD if s/he can accept tips electronically. I doubt if the TDs want a Tauck tip portal. Today, they receive cash and decide how much to claim for tax purposes. A T… (View Post)1 -
Re: Camera gear and backpack
I didn't mention what rwilso15 said, but my Fujifilm camera has two storage slots and I use both of them. I put RAW on one and JPEG on the other. If your camera has two storage slots, it's … (View Post)1
