Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

Re: First time going on a safari!
I don't think any photographer observes the entire trip through a view finder, but uses the camera to capture interesting moments. I can be as much "in the moment" as anyone while obse… (View Post)3 -

On another forum I participate in, we have a saying - "No Picture, Didn't Happen." I enjoy reviewing our trips every now and then. Wouldn't be possible without photos. (View Post)2
