Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

Re: What is it?
@British - Yes, it's two units, one open and one closed. I sometimes wonder who chooses these things. Even without using them yourself, it should be obvious it's not very practical. Althoug… (View Post)1 -
Re: What is it?
British is right. It's nice when someone wants to give you a gift but if it's something you won't use, all of the manufacturing chain has been a waste - from the effort of the people w… (View Post)3 -
Re: Switzerland - Europe’s Crown Jewel - Sept 2024
We did that tour in 2023. My only recommendation has to do with the visit to the Jungfraujoch. They take you into the ice cave (Ice Palace) and the ice bar. The floor is ice and very slippery. There … (View Post)1
