Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

Re: US Tourist Killed by Elephant While on a Safari in Zambia
I think he said one tourist killed every two years (on average), not two people a year. But even one every two years is one too many, especially if they're part of your family. (View Post)2 -
Re: Opinion Needed
For me, the most important thing is the itinerary, but after that, it’s the ship. To contrast Regent and Silversea, Regent has three new ships, and the suites on those ships are really great – large … (View Post)1 -
Re: Opinion Needed
It depends on what your preferences are. I prefer a small group, and I like that Tauck handles everything. Tauck keeps you busy - little free time. If free time is what you want, maybe Tauck is not t… (View Post)1
