Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

@MotherOfPoodles - You should definitely see the Taj Mahal. That, by itself, was worth the trip. Varanasi was also interesting. (View Post)2 -

Re: Turkish Airlines Bedbugs
It would be easy to fumigate an aircraft if it can be taken out of service for a couple of days. I’m sure Turkish Airlines wants to clear this up as soon as possible. If they don’t, no one will trave… (View Post)1 -
Re: Essence of Japan - Samurai Swords
Let me comment about British's comment about genuine Samurai swords. The real Samurai swords (katana), ones that were carried and used by a true Samurai, or even lesser ones carried by an office… (View Post)1 -
Re: Peru and Galapagos vs Hidden Galapagos & Peru
Looks like it's the ships. One of them uses the Isabella II and the other uses the Silversea Silver Origin. We did the one with the Silver Origin and I thought the ship was wonderful. Some peopl… (View Post)1
