Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

Re: Jordan and Egypt- specifics on Tauck provided security
When I went to Egypt, there was a cop with a handgun with us at all times. That's not going to protect you from terrorists but will help against crime. (View Post)1 -
Re: Plugs in room for charging phones and etc
Most of the ships I've been on have the US type outlet and the European two pin outlet. The US is 120 volts and the European is 230 volts. (View Post)1 -
Re: The GEM will finally have its Grand Opening!! Maybe(?)
Any idea if it will be a full opening or just the opening of a part of the GEM? They opened the gift shop a few years ago, if I remember correctly. (View Post)1
