Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

Re: Choice of Hotel
If you want an interesting Japan experience, stay at a Ryokan - a traditional Japanese hotel. I never stayed in one in Tokyo - only in other cities in Japan - but I'm sure they are in Tokyo. Her… (View Post)1 -

Also, if you have time, go to the Yasukuni Shrine. You often read news stories about the Yasukuni Shrine in the news - it's a very controversial shrine. But when you read about it, you’ll know w… (View Post)1 -
Re: French ban on short flights could take off in other EU countries
Late one afternoon, maybe 5 or 6 pm, I noticed water running down the driveway and investigated. Seems that the water heater in the garage was leaking. So I turn the water off to the water heater and… (View Post)1
