Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

Re: The Danube strikes again
It would have to be a LOT of rain. When it does rain, a lot will soak into the ground at first. Then what runoff they get will have to work it's way to the rivers. It's going to take some t… (View Post)2 -
Re: River Cruise Problems 1n 2026
My wife and I used to do Europe trips on our own. With the rail system you can get anywhere in Europe at a decent price. The only problem is that you must make all the arrangements yourself. We were … (View Post)1
