Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

I rode a camel in Petra and on another in Egypt. You just sit on the camel and the handler leads the camel. The most "exciting" thing is when the camel rises or kneels down. You need to be … (View Post)1 -
Re: Review of Tauck’s Italia Bella: Rome to Venice Tour — A Disturbing and Unsafe Experience
I don't think the fact that they just joined is indication of spam. Most Tauck guests are not members of the forum. If I was in that situation, and felt that I had been treated badly and then ig… (View Post)5 -
Re: How does Tauck handle the rain?
Like Claudia, I'm not a big fan of unbrellas. In the wind, they're hard to use, and in a group they get tangled. A rain jacket with a hood is my preference. (View Post)1 -
Re: what gifts have you received from Tauck this year?
For me, I'd rather have certain "benefits" than gifts. There are really no "things" that I want or need - so those small gifts usually wind up being given away or thrown away… (View Post)2 -
Re: Laundry Service on Tauk Tours
I've been frugal all my life. I’ll certainly do my own laundry rather than pay hotel prices. (View Post)1
