Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

Re: Bluetooth earbuds and vox boxes

Re: Camera lens recommendation for Great Migration
The camera I have will add a 1.5X digital zoom or a 2X digital zoom to the shot. I have an APS-C camera with an 18-300mm zoom. The 1.5 crop factor makes the lens equivalent to a 27-450mm in a full fr… (View Post)1 -
Re: Trip Report - Vietnam, Cambodia, Thailand - October, 2025
Yes, I found that, also. Most people had never heard of Ha Long Bay. For most people, a trip to Hanoi is a once in a lifetime trip and it would be a shame to go all that way and miss Ha Long Bay. (View Post)1 -
