Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

Re: Tipping tour directors
@Johnwvu In a situation where the gratuities are included in the tour, you can give a modest tip if you felt the TD went above and beyond. You would not do $10/day/person in that situation but some a… (View Post)1 -
Re: Navigating returning to the US after testing Positive for Covid
I think that's June 12, 2022, not June 10. But it is great news. Don't have to worry about getting stuck somewhere and having to change your flights at high cost. But it also means that the… (View Post)1 -
Re: Covid Testing Requirement Lifted?
It's been announced officially. Effective this Sunday, June 12, 2022, COVID tests are not required to enter the US. They'll re-evaluate in 90 days, but I take that to mean they'll star… (View Post)3
