Since we can't update the "About me" field, I thought I'd put some information here.
I'm a retired electrical engineer, having spent the majority of my career in communications. I hold 32 US patents, mostly on communications subjects.
Although it was not the focus of my career work, I have a decent knowledge of power distribution, both in the US and internationally, especially for residential service. I also have some knowledge of three-phase and single-phase electric motors and their control systems, but mostly only smaller motors maybe up to 10HP.
After I retired, I took classes in woodworking and developed some level of skill. I've taught woodworking classes, short courses, in veneering, carving, dovetails, and box-making. I’ve built a lot of furniture for our home, to the point where my wife told me she doesn’t have room for any more in our house😊
My wife, Judy, and I travel a couple of times a year and I document our trips on our blog, www.mikeandjudytravel.com

Good advice. The first time I went to Paris I didn't know about the underground access to the Arc de Triomphe and crossed the road around it. But I was young and foolish. (View Post)2 -
Re: ANNOUNCED SCHEDULE ACTIVITY CHANGE DAY 6 OF PARIS TO RIVIERA NOT ACCEPTABLE FOR TAUCK STANDARDS
@cathyandsteve - Paris is a magical city. Going there while the Olympics are going on may not be the best time but I hope you fall in love with it - as I did long ago. There's so much to see and… (View Post)1 -
Re: Table Mountain Cableway Annual Maintenance
This isn't very practical unless you're young and really fit, but you can walk up Table Mountain. From a Google search "There are five official hiking routes to the top, including Indi… (View Post)1 -
Re: Iguazu Falls before cruise?
I don't have any recommendations for a private tour company, but we went to Iguazu Falls in 2017 and it was worth seeing. You can take a boat that will take you under the falls. They give you ra… (View Post)1
