Budapest - Free Time Suggestions?

On the August 31 Eastbound Trip starting in Budapest.
Any recent travelers have suggestions on free time activities and restaurants?

    Things to do/see:
    Shoes on the Danube.
    Chain Bridge (day and night)
    Great Market Hall
    Organ Recital at Basilica of St. Stephen.

    Places to dine:
    Pesti Diszno Bisztro
    Borkanyaha WineKitchen (make resvs as soon as possible)

    Have fun. It's a beautiful locale.

  • Free Walking Tours. (Actually not free -- you pay the guide what you think appropriate at the end of the tour.) You can look them up on line. I highly recommend the "Communism Tour." You just meet at Vorosmarty Ter, walk, and learn a lot in a couple of hours.
  • If you like big, old-school museums filled with art and artifacts in beautiful buildings, then we really enjoyed wandering through the Museum of Ethnography and the National Museum. Very easy to find and very walk-able. No need for a guide to enjoy them, and neither were crowded during our visits. Entrance fees were minimal. Cool places to explore, people-watch, and learn in.
