I can't find the name, but if you need one in Edinburgh you might want to send a PM to ndvb. He had a great guide who was a retired policeman and drove a Mercedes.

To send a Private Message (PM), click on the icon in the upper right that looks like an inbox with an arrow (when your cursor is over it you'll see "inbox"), in the pop-up dialoge box, click on "new message" at the top. Address it to ndvb and compose your PM. He might not respond since he hasn't been around in awhile.
I did a search and found his old (2012) forum post, check it out: https://forums.tauck.com/discussion/comment/4877/#Comment_4877 According to Google Butler's is still active.

While I don't know any private guides/drivers in Scotland/Edinburg, I have always had good experiences/guides from an organization called "Tours by Locals". I have not used then in Edinburg but have used them in Portugal, Italy, France, and Germany. Just Google Tours by Locals and then navigate to wherever you want to be in Scotland on their website. They are not inexpensive but the guides I have had were all uniformly excellent and knowledgable. I used then for our pre and post tours days with Tauck.

We have scheduled a tour guide in August from here https://www.invernesscustomtours.com/ They have been great in helping us plan. Will see how they do.
We did some research and decided to go with Discreet Scotland.
https://www.smcchauffeurdrive.co.uk He picked me up at Edinburgh airport and drove me to Glasgow to start the Week in Scotland tour last year, but he goes everywhere.
