Honestly, the Glacier Express is not the highlight of this adventure. You will most likely see more from a bus ride and eating at a restaurant instead of the meal offered in a train and for me, that could be comparable to airplane food. Be flexible and the best is yet to come.
While it might not be important to me, if Wcuro is a train buff then I can see that the Glacier Express might be really important to him. And, if Tauck has an ongoing problem with the GE company then probably they should note that either the GE would be taken or the same scenery would be viewed from a bus. It shouldn't matter how long Wcuro has been a member or that he might not have looked at comments. I look at the tour description, book the tour, and then read travel books and articles to decide my free time. Also,not everyone can easily pivot and change tours, airline tickets, and work schedules.
While I know personally that trains don't always run on schedule in Switzerland, I would have thought it safe to assume that a train wouldn't be cancelled . . . a restaurant, a hotel, water levels for riverboat cruises, a closed for restoration museum - yes, but not a train. That being said, I think Tauck is good at making last minute adjustments for a trip.
