If you want a tour guide, I can give you a recommendation.
I’ll take the recommendation, Mike. We’ve got a few days in Barcelona later in April. Thanks.
Please post a review of this trip when you return. We've been looking at this trip for a while, but we are concerned with the speed of it - it's a lot to see and do a week's time. We are planning Spain in 2026 - just not sure how we will do it.
We used Javier from Barcelona Private Tour Guides. Here's his email - barcelonaprivatetourguide@gmail.com
And a picture of him with Judy. We thought he did an excellent job. If you use him, please tell him "Hello" for us.
If you want to see what we saw with Javier, click on this link - https://www.mikeandjudytravel.com/2017FranceSpainPortugal-12.htm
We did the tour with him in 2017 so he’ll be older than this picture.
MikeHenderson, thanks for the recommendation. Did you get out to Montserrat or other outlying area?
We did Montserrat on a different tour. With Javier we only did Barcelona.
Here are some pictures and text of our visit to Montserrat. https://www.mikeandjudytravel.com/2023-3Barcelona-CapeTown-01.htm
I have a few pictures from the art museum.
It was a pre-cruise tour of a Regent cruise.
Hello, just a tip. If you're planning on visiting anything Gaudi, buy tickets from here, U.S-
Park Guell it's by appt.- and the Hop-on-Hop off, it's excellent, it covers all most see. All main attractions now have a Cap on the # of people allowed per day.

One most see- it's The Plalau de la musica Catalana-(Catalan music Palace) It's a concert Hall, but the Architecture it's AAMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you could have extra time to go to a concert, even better.

Enjoy.
Other than the very unique formations, we were not impressed with Montserrat (different tour). From a religious perspective I can understand why some might wish to view the black Madonna. We enjoyed our walk and coffee in the adjacent area, however, while we waited for the group to finish.
I'm interested in the Montserrat mountain and Colonia Guell as they relate to Gaudi and his work. Pretty excited to be exploring that area!
If it was just the Black Madonna I would agree the trip would not be worth it. But, the views are spectacular. And, there is a fabulous but under visited art museum as part of the monastery complex. It’s to your left as you face the cathedral. We were blown away by the collection-there are Picassos’, Degas, El Greco, Carvagio, and a host of Spanish artists whose work I was not familiar with but astounding. And the way every piece is exhibited put’s you closer than you’d be in most museums. A do not miss.
Thank you Mike. I thought I had read all your blogs but must have missed this one. I’ll get in touch with Javier.
We enjoyed the hop on, hop off bus in Barcelona. It was very convenient to get you around the city to the sights. There's several stops around Montjuic and the views from their are great. Our only regret is not having more days to see more.
