We are traveling to Japan and don’t know if we need special adapters for our apple devices (phone, iPad, Apple Watch) or if we are able to plug into usb or regular outlets on the ship and hotels without a special adapter. Thanks

  • Japan is a bit unusual in their electrical power. The voltage is 100 volts but the hertz are 50 Hz in the east (such as Tokyo) and 60 Hz in the west. Almost all modern chargers are designed to operate between 100 volts and about 250 volts, and either 50 or 60 hertz.

The plugs are generally the same as two prong US plugs (no third ground plug). If you have a three prong plug, such as on a computer, you'll need to get an adapter to a two prong.

The Apple world is going to USB-C but most USB outlets in hotels, ships, etc. are still USB-A so you may (or may not) need an adapter for your USB.
