Flooding

We are going to Tanzania and Kenya in July. I am concerned about the effects the recent flooding has had on migratory routes and the animal population in the areas we will be traveling. Any recent news?

  • I called Tauck a couple of weeks ago about children going on our family Bridges tour and the lodges we stay at were fine. The local tour operators were monitoring the situation and keeping in touch with Tauck. The rains have stopped now so it will be drying out. I am guessing the non paved roads might be full of ruts unless they have had time to go over them with the special contraption to smooth things out. We were on your tour in December 2019 when the short rains were prolonged and the area going to the Four Seasons was badly flooded and we had to make detours. Unless animals were drowned, I would think it means there will be more around because the vegetation will still be pretty good until the dry season does get more dry. If you are concerned, then I would call Tauck and maybe you could let us know. I don’t generally call Tauck unless I’m making a booking, though have had to for our Bridges tour several times.
