Blue Danube-Budapest

We are doing the Blue Danube starting in Budapest. I believe Tauck's tour of Budapest is a day and a half. How many days in advance is recommended to arrive in order to see things not included with Tauck and to acclimate to the time change.

  • I missed TWO river cruises that included Budapest- the first due to Covid, the second due to low water levels in July 2022 as my Tauck ship was to start in Amsterdam and it could not get north of Passau. I had planned to spend 3 days post river cruise soaking up so many things in Budapest! Tour of Parliament, St. Stephens Basilica, Hospital in the Rock, Buda castle, New York Cafe, Grand Market Hall, the Szechni Baths, Fishermans Bastion, Heroes Square, etc. At least now the historic Chain Bridge is reopened as is the Hungarian Opera House. It pays to see which attractions are in Pest, and which are in Buda! and you could easily spend an entire day on each side, if not more! Do buy some famous Hungarian Paprika-they have many varieties AND bring back some Palinka-it is a fruit brandy in various flavors and hard if not impossible to buy in the US. The Ruins bars are supposedly very unusual but I had not planned on going there alone at night. Enjoy planning your time in Budapest
