Elephant café

Lots of you have mentioned the elephant café. Going on the September 5 tour of Z, B, SA. Arriving on the fourth. Would like to go to the elephant café on the fifth. Questions… How soon do I need to make a reservation?, I have been reading about taking a jeep or the boat… I’m traveling solo until I meet the tour on the evening of the fifth. What do you all recommend?

  • I would book now, it is very popular. If you get the chance I would recommend the boat. When we went (2022) it was a high speed motor boat that ran through some of the rapids on the Zambesi and provided lots of opportunity for pictures of Elephants and hippos on the banks and in the water as well as crocs if you are lucky. They will come and pick you up at the Royal Livingstone Lobby. At the sanctuary itself you will see rescued elephants which you will be allowed to feed. Zebras were also close by. The lunch itself was pretty good. It is supposed to be one of the best restaurants in Zambia, but I bever confirmed that. Quality is like a higher end US restaurant. Enjoy! Sample shots of the day we went below.

  • Cuzin GJ, Here is a link to my Lightroom Gallery for B, Z & SA. There are also photos iof TAUCK Peru & Galapagos and Egypt. Note that in the B, Z & SA pics that near the end there is a visit to Robben Island and the Winelands. These were not in the Tauck Itinerary but we added them because of personal interest. https://lightroom.adobe.com/gallery/b7fb68b9c20149d781988d8099291871
