Pre-tour activities in Venice 2024
When reviewing the itinerary for day two, the description of the tour reads...you'll pass by St. Mark's Basilica and the Doge's Palace. Has anyone taken this trip recently? I am considering booking a tour of St. Mark's and the Doge's Palace, but I do not want to repeat if we actually go inside and tour. I would love some feedback.

We did that trip about a year ago and we did not go in those sites with Tauck but did see them on our own during the free time we had.
It was a great trip, enjoy!!
Be careful booking things to do on your own in Rome until you start the trip as the Vatican visit times can change , the Vatican controls that.
Sally, very recently we took a secret itinerary tour of the Doge Palace. We booked in advance for this small group English tour. They took us to private areas not open to public for about 11/2 hours and then we viewed public areas that are overwhelming and magnificent. Reservations have to be done far enough in advance. Very reasonable cost.
We will be in Venice In October (we are doing some time there on our own before our Tauck Tuscany & Umbria Tour) - if you want to book St. Marks, do so ASAP, many times were already booked up when we reserved our time a few weeks ago. We have hired a private guide for 5 hours and that is one of our stops.
JimFlorida and terrilynn, could you please share the link for your bookings on your trips? Not sure if that violates rules, but it would be so helpful! Thanks!
If you have time in Venice, try to see Scala Contarini del Bovolo (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Palazzo_Contarini_del_Bovolo). It's a bit hard to find but interesting.
