Food questions
Hello, all. We are scheduled for the April 25 tour, and reading the menus of the hotel restaurants, I am concerned. I am allergic to fish and seafood, and we don’t eat sweetbread or other organ meats. How flexible are the restaurants? Can I get an omelette or a salad if there is nothing we can eat? I have been to France before, but was on my own and ate a lot of onion soup and croque monsieur. Thank you!

Send a note to Tauck and tell your tour director. I have some seafood problems and don't eat red meat, this is not a problem, Tauck has always taken care of me (11 tours) and they give me a perfectly acceptable meal every time.
Enjoy your trip
The most important thing is to tell Tauck and the Tour director about your allergies and preferences and that will help. I’m sure in France that chicken and beef and vegetable dishes will be on the menus. I assume you are not keen on lamb either. I grew up eating tripe, oxtail and kidney and liver!
We did this tour last fall. My wife has a significant shellfish allergy and organ based foods are not on the top of our list. The tour director will ask you when you meet her/him about any allergies or restrictions. They will go out of their way to make sure you are taken care of and are well fed. Typically you will have a place card at your table spot stating your restriction. My wife also lets the waiter know about it as well. There are multiple options that you will enjoy. If there is a set menu such as when your are on the boat cruise on the Gulf of Morbihan, they will have a good option for you.
Tauck always arranges for special diet, as long as they know in advance. On one of my tours -- a 3-week tour -- a fellow traveler with whom I often ate was gluten-free and lactose-free, and she always had a meal that met her needs.
All of the hotel breakfast setups were outstanding. Some of the lunch meals are on your own. The TD will give you suggestions and in the past some Euro to cover lunch. For dinner you will not be eating before 7PM. Some of the hotel restaurants are on the smaller side. Therefore, at some of the location our TD had staggered out reservation times between 7 and 8 so not to overwhelm the kitchen. Our TD actually had us rotating who we sat with at dinner which was actually quite nice.
We did this tour back in 2021 and there was plenty of variety at meals. I don't eat organ meat either And though I'm not allergic to seafood, after a few days of it I wanted a change and didn't have an issue finding alternatives. As others have said, let Tauck know your food issues and confirm that with the TD. I've been on other tours with people who had severe allergies and alternatives were always found for them.
Thank you all so much!
