Anybody going on the May 3 trip from Osaka?

Hello! My husband and I are booked on the upcoming "Cruising the Land of the Rising Sun" trip and we are very excited. We will be getting in early by a few days and will be staying in Kyoto. We need to get from the Osaka airport (KIK) to Kyoto and we hear taking a bullet train is a good option. I have looked it up and find it confusing (two tickets, can't take large suitcases, etc). Has anybody had any experience with this? We won't need a JR pass, as this will be the only train trip we need outside of the tour. So we need to buy individual tickets. Seems very complicated. Anybody else going on this trip? And if yes, do you know anything about this?

  • The bullet train stops very briefly at every station so there is little time to maneuver big suitcases as well as anywhere to store them on the train. This is why the trains always arrive and leave on time. You almost basically have to be standing in line ready to get off the train just before it gets to your station. You can instead take regular, regional trains which we took quite a few times in Japan.
