We did a food tour on our own while in Bari, which combined the town tour with some nice food samples. The old town is pretty cool to walk through. There’s a focaccia bakery near the cathedral that should not be missed.
Yes we did. It’s kind of two towns, one modern and the other the old town. You’ll want to hang out in Old Town. Very cool. Narrow streets going every which way. If you have time get some focaccia at Panificio Fiore Bari. It’s by the Basicilica. It will be the place with the lines. Looking for lunch, Martinucci Labratory off the main piazza has great sandwiches. We were there on another tour. Matera is stunning. Have fun and enjoy!
I used my Gift of Time at the beginning of this trip because researching and looking at a map, I noticed that the most beautiful resort that Tauck stays in on the last couple of this tour is very remote from any old town center or city center, and who wants to pay 50.00 for a taxi ride to get anywhere. While others used their Gift of Time for their last day, my husband and I made plans ahead to find a hotel In Ostuni which was within walking distance to restaurants, shops, gelato, etc. It made sense to us. It worked out well for us and Ostuni was absolutely lovely. We dined on a rooftop terrace over looking the sea. We found this restaurant just by strolling. Tauck picked us up from there to transport us to the airport.
We didn’t stay there. We were supposed to; but two weeks before departure, we received an email that there was a change of hotels for reasons unknown to us.

Thank you. Did you stay in Bari! We arrive from Istanbul early morning and hope to tour before Tauck takes us to Matera for the tour.

We did a city tour in Bari in 2024- not part of a Tauck tour- it was fun and informative. go for it.

When we took this tour years ago, the tour stayed at the Borgo Egnasia. An amazingly decorated hotel.

The same at the hotel we were "The Masseria Torre Maizza". The online prices made me almost fall off my chair.
