Day Bag
Any suggestions for a good day bag to take to fit binoculars, neck buff, etc.? I'd like one that could double as a travel purse. Just wondering if there are any that others have found especially useful.

We use a lightweight nylon backpack bag that folds into itself, maybe 5 or 6 inches square, Different brands. I got mine in Spain at one of those stores that always has a black and white cow outside. It was about $5. Will get a new one next time we visit Spain, I also have one that literally is about 2 by two inches and when opened up is backpack size.
I enjoy reading articles from this journalist and I hope you do as well.

Thank you, OurTravels34. What is the name of the journalist? I wasn't able to load the link.
I could not see either
Ok. Sorry. Look up John M Glionna on Google. Click on “Blog”. The recent article is called “The Grand Dame of the Serengeti”.
I’m just sharing a very interesting journalist whose stories I enjoy reading and who lives in the SF Bay Area.
You might want to consider an anti-theft pack for travel. I have a Pacsafe waist pack that has worked several times in keeping my belongings safe from pickpockets. It is big enough to hold a pair of binoculars, plus valuables and other odds and ends. I actually got hassled by some pickpockets on a subway in Paris, and they couldn't get into it. Mostly, they see it and just leave me alone. I started using a Pacsafe after I had my pocket picked in St. Petersburg outside the Hermitage Museum. Travelon also makes an anti-theft travel purse that might work. I suggest you search for "Pacsafe" on Amazon, which will bring up various travel safe packs and purses.
That’s a good idea but you won’t need anything like that for K and T. Paris is the worst in my experience.
so so so many options. I love all bags by Tom Bihn - their backpacks are so comfortable.
I love the new Bellroy Laneway Crescent Bag in the size 7L. It's my new travel purse. The 2.5L is great too, but too small for your needs I think.
If you are looking for a packable bag look at Matador. Peak design makes a very nice packable tote. I have used both as well as a 20 L Deuter Speed lite.
I just found this picture of one of our backpacks that folds into its own pouch
