Free Days in Jasper and Banff
Hello Fellow Travelers!
We will be on the August 7th trip to the Candian Rockies and Glacier National Park.
Are we to book our own experiences before we leave for Jasper and Banff? Do you recommend the Gondola Ride in Banff?
Looking forward to our adventure!

The Best of the Canadian Rockies was our very first Tauck trip. I can't answer your first question, but we did do the gondola ride in Banff. It depends a little bit on how clear a day you have. Our day was mostly cloudy, but the wind was moving the clouds around. We waited to get a view of the hotel and our patience paid off.

No one ever mentions Lake Moraine which is not far from lake Louise. It is more beautiful than lake Louise in my opinion, and if you’re a foodie, dine at the Post Hotel.
It depends on what “experiences” you are talking about. For any hotel sponsored activity we did not need to book in advance. This was quite some time ago so things may have changed.
I recommend looking at the hotels’ websites for information. You can always send them an e-mail as well. We purchased the gondola tickets directly from the concierge.
We took the Banff Gondola on our own and booked through the hotel. The bus was included and picked us up in front of the hotel. Great views and would recommend.
We just returned. I highly recommend booking excursions you know you want to do in advance. The wildlife tours were booked up before we arrived at our hotels.
However, we waited to book the gondola tour in Lake Louise to make sure it was a clear day and had no problem, just walked right on, no lines. It was beautiful.
