Hotels in Barcelona

Posting again-considering the Majestic Hotel or The One Barcelona for pre-stay in Barcelona. Would appreciate recommendation of which hotel you would choose if you are familiar with both, as well as opinions of each if you’ve stayed at either.

  • Hopefully, you will spend so little time in the hotel it hardly matters. There is so much to see in Barcelona

  • Went with a different company, stayed at the Almanac, overall five star experience. Sexy, modern with insane view of La Familia. Amazing service. Great breakfast.

I walked by both the Majestic and the One thanks to Tauck's competitior offering guided tour of Casa Batilo and Casa Pradera on the Barcelona itinitery. For both the Majestic and The One, you may be stuck with a smaller room with windows facing an alleyway. The Majestic is opposite Casa Batilo and the street is very noisy all the way into the night. The area is definitely busier. The design is more Baroque. It is on the main shopping street and I think Mango is downstairs and the Mandarin Oriental is the next block.

The One is near Casa Pradera, more contemporary and modern. The roof top pool is supposedly amazing. It is off the main street. It is slightly quieter but farther from the restaurants and shopping.

I've tried all the restaurants near by and can tell you which one is good and bad.

  • We stayed in El Palace Hotel with Tauck in Barcelona. It was one of our favorites. Beautiful hotel with beautiful rooms. We have been to Barcelona several times, so we have time to enjoy a spectacular hotel.

  • We will be spending 4 days in Barcelona after our Tauck Portugal-Spain land tour. We will be at the Hotel Barcelona Center in the Eixample area. It looks to be centrally located and has gotten good reviews. We’ve not been to Barcelona before, so I don’t imagine we will be in the hotel for much more than sleeping—so much to see and do.

  • If interested, you might enjoy a day trip to Montserrat. The rock formations are quite dramatic.

If a fan of Salvador Dalí, you can visit both his home and museum. My stepson enjoyed both, but advised it would be very rushed to do both in just one day.

I’m sure your hotel’s concierge can assist with transportation.

The Spain and Portugal tour was our favorite European land tour, made even more special by our delightful tour director, Patrica H. Have a wonderful journey.

  • Already have a reservation with Viator for a tour to Montserrat. We’ve done some research and plan on doing a lot of walking—Picasso Museum, Miro Museum, all of the Gaudi we can see, etc. really looking forward to our tour and post tour activities!

  • We did a tour of Montserrat prior to a cruise out of Barcelona. If you want a preview of what you'll likely see, go to https://www.mikeandjudytravel.com/2023-3Barcelona-CapeTown-01.htm

Also did a private tour of Barcelona some years earlier. https://www.mikeandjudytravel.com/2017FranceSpainPortugal-12.htm#PrivateGuide
