Are we too old for this trip?
For those of you who have gone before: I know the activity level is high, but we are two 75-year-olds with no mobility issues. Is this trip doable at our age? We have recently gone on other trips with high activity levels with no problems, but there were no real hikes. There seem to be alternatives to long hikes, but I'd appreciate your thoughts.

You should have no problems. The tour must have changed since we took it because the one hike I recall was the one to see the condors but that is an option of several to choose from. The other place is all the steps at the Perino Moreno glacier…we were there earlier this year on a tour with another company, so it is more fresh in my mind…there are hundreds of steps. Again, you don’t have to walk far if you don’t want to.
For us, the.most challenging part of the tour is the changing weather, particularly the very high winds that you can encounter. We took several long hikes on our tour last year and the one I turned back from was because the wind was almost blowing me off my feet.
You can do it! We took this trip last year and there were many guests older than you. There were always options for those who wanted easier hiking routes. We had walking poles offered on many of the excursions which helped on those rocky paths. I agree with British, that the weather was the most challenging. Just bring plenty of layers as the weather can change quickly. This was one of our top 5 trips and I wouldn't have missed it.

I was there in February 2025 and only had one day that was really windy with some rain.... otherwise the weather was pretty nice - sunny but cold. This is not a strenuous tour in terms of walking. Bring walking sticks for the parks. There are no real mandatory hikes. At the Perrito Moreno you are walking on grated metal which can be slippery when wet. There is always a choice of what level of walk to go on in the parks. There are long bus rides.
