Puglia and Sicily

Hi. For those of you who have done Puglia and or Sicily, are there places where you wish you had more time? We’re doing both tours in October with 5 days in between and just trying to figure out how and where to spend the time. Thanks for your help!😄

  • I'd spend more time in Sicily.

  • Sicily is far more interesting and so much more to see.

  • Is there a specific area in Sicily that you wished Tauck had spent more time?

  • That's a tough one - a lot depends on your interests. For me - we didn't have time while in Palermo to get to Monreale or visit the ruins in Segesta or Selinunte on the way to Palermo. I could have spent the day at the Villa Romana del Casale.

  • It's easy to get to Monreale. When the morning tour of the opera house ended, we just got a taxi at the stand right outside. The driver took us up the hill (about a 30 min ride), waited up there for us for an hour while we toured the inside, then took us back down to town, offering some narration in English. It cost 70 euro.

  • Our tour group had lunch at La Foresteria Planeta, a beautiful winery and resort near Agrigento. I would love to go back one day and stay there for a few days. The use of a local beach club is included if you stay at the resort. The meal here was fabulous and the best we had on the entire trip. The wines are also very nice. It's under 2 hours from Palermo which might be tough unless you have a car.
