Spain & Portugal Land Tour 2026

My wife & I are taking our 1st Tauck land tour to Portugal & Spain this May and will be spending 3 days in Lisbon with time to explore before the tour begins. Are there any specific restaurants and Lisbon attractions (apart from La Prado museum) not covered by the tour that we should definitely consider or that were enjoyed by recent travelers to Lisbon?

To clarify, the Prado Museum is in Madrid.

    Lisbon-

    • Avenida da Liberdade is a lovely tree-lined boulevard that you can stroll along and admire the beautiful limestone walkways. They can be treacherous when wet, however.

    • Alfama, the oldest district, is also a great place to wander and weave in and out of the charming, hilly streets. There are many “mom and pop” restaurants offering traditional Portuguese cuisine and Fado music—very soulful.

    • Sintra is worth the visit if Tauck doesn’t take you there.

    • Cascais is our favorite day trip. It is a beautiful seaside town. The Mar do Inferno Restaurant is our favorite, particularly for the octopus.

    • Our fondest memories are the unscripted ones; just pick an area and explore. Interact with the locals.

You picked a great tour. Enjoy.
